From Burnout to Breakthrough: My Journey from Accountant to Purpose-Driven Coach
Have you ever looked around at your life and thought—this isn’t what I signed up for?
That was me. From the outside, everything looked fine. I had a steady job as an accountant, a comfortable routine, and a life I’d worked hard to build. But inside, I felt drained. I was constantly tired, uninspired, and like I was living someone else’s life.
The Silent Struggle
For years, I pushed through the motions. I showed up, did the work, ticked all the boxes. But it felt like I was just existing—not truly living. The spark had gone. I started noticing how heavy everything felt. I wasn’t excited about my job anymore. It became harder to focus, harder to care.
There were days I’d sit at my desk and wonder, Is this it? Is this all there is?
I kept hoping things would change, but deep down I knew—it wasn’t the job that needed to change. It was me.
A Whisper from Within
The turning point wasn’t dramatic. It came as a quiet whisper in my heart: There has to be more.
That whisper grew louder each time I ignored it. I started reading, journaling, and going on long walks just to clear my mind. I joined a women’s circle and found myself surrounded by people who spoke my language—people who talked about healing, purpose, and growth. For the first time in a long time, I felt seen.
That’s when I started my journey into coaching.
A New Direction
I didn’t dive in straight away—I tiptoed. I took a coaching course while still working full-time. I started helping a few people here and there. And something shifted. I realised I loved hearing people’s stories. I loved holding space for them. I loved seeing them light up when they had a breakthrough.
And more than anything—I loved how alive I felt while doing it.
This wasn’t just a new job. It was a calling.
Letting Go of the Old
But choosing this path meant releasing the old version of me—the one who stayed quiet, played it safe, and put others first. It meant letting go of a stable career I no longer felt aligned with. It also meant facing the fear of the unknown.
And that’s exactly what I did.
Now, I’m on a mission to help other midlife women—especially those feeling burnt out, lost, or stuck—rediscover their purpose, reclaim their voice, and rewrite their story.
What’s Next
What started as a career change has become a full-blown transformation—from the inside out. In my next post, I’ll be sharing the deeper layers of this journey. How I began healing old wounds, releasing what no longer served me, and stepping into my true self.
Because finding your purpose isn’t just about changing what you do—it’s about remembering who you are.
